Tourism x Indonesia and Malaysia meeting
3/31/3 A meeting was held between Tourism and Kamar Dagang dan Industri Indonesia and National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia. Theme section is on the promotion of food diversity, including Halal, which is being promoted by Tourism.
About 40 people participated in a lively exchange of opinions, some of which are presented below.
From Indonesia,
Tourism seeks partners for food diversity projects.
We would like to see more halal and vegetarian menu options at international conferences.
From Malaysia,
The burden on restaurants to obtain Halal certification is heavy, as they need a dedicated Halal kitchen, etc,
It would be better to start by verifying whether each ingredient is halal or not.
We would like to see national chain companies (convenience stores, etc.) offering halal meals.
It would be better to establish restaurants in Tokyo, Osaka, etc. that specialize in Halal or Halal and vegetarian.
We are considering setting up a halal-compliant ghost kitchen in Japan, and would like to collaborate with ABC.
The meeting made us realize once again the high level of interest in halal in Japan and the size of the market for Muslim businesses in both countries.
We have received requests from both countries to have another meeting with them, and in the future, we will hold individual meetings with the companies that participated in this meeting to connect them to specific business opportunities.
