Collaborative robot that performs rebar tying work in place of humans, reducing the burden on craftspeople.
Tomorobo is a cooperative robot that "works together with people" to automate the simple task of bundling rebar by simply loading commercially available hand-held power tools.
This robot frees the workers on site from repetitive and painful simple tasks, allowing them to demonstrate their "craftsmanship" in fields that require more advanced skills. Tomorobo" can be used to improve productivity and reduce the workload of construction workers.
Two types of Tomorobo are available: one for binding fine rebar (φ10 to 16 mm), which is mainly used in construction work, and the other for binding large rebar (φ19 to 29 mm), which is used in civil engineering and infrastructure work.
Robot automation of rebar tying work
The bundling tomorobo performs the simple task of manually bundling rebar intersections in earthen floors, slabs, etc. one by one by on-site craftsmen with high precision. This frees craftsmen from simple work and allows them to focus on more advanced work.

Achieves working time of less than 2.7 seconds per location, automatically responding to changes in pitch, such as reinforcement bars
The 200mm pitch, when two bundling machines are used, speedily bundles each location in less than 2.7 seconds.
It also automatically responds to changes in pitch while sensing the intersection of rebars, with a pitch error of ±20 mm. Furthermore, the machine reliably detects rebar intersections and performs bundling work even under various conditions, such as deviations in the height of the rebar and inclination.

Automation of simple tasks improves productivity per worker.

Just attach a hand-held electric tool for commercially available rebar tying
The robot can automate rebar tying work by simply attaching two units of MAX's RB-440T rebar tying machine on either side. The robot can be installed with a one-touch operation using a dedicated adapter.

Safety-oriented robot that people can cooperate with with ease.
The robot is equipped with upper and lower sensors, so that when, for example, the robot touches its feet, the low position sensor detects it, and when there is an obstacle at the height of the upper part of the Tomorobo, the high position sensor detects it, and the robot stops in an emergency.
